Keep my mind at ease.
Can’t bring my face to the stories today,
no free papers please.

The sinister squeezes
between the pages. I ignore what they say
to keep my mind at ease.

Letterbox empties
enough of life without news. So I pray
‘No free papers please.’

Written word junkies
read too much warring. They don’t know the way
to keep their minds at ease.

I’ve stopped the disease,
a sign on my front door keeps them at bay
‘NO FREE PAPERS PLEASE.’

Murderous weeklies
which killed good moods; gone now. This I daresay
will keep my mind at ease.
Please, no free papers please.

This is a Villanelle I wrote.

It's my attempt to make something of the signs people have on their doors. I think it's a British thing.

Defo a British thing! lol.
must be a British thing, I'm American and I don't know what you are talking about but I can imagine from the content of the poem.

I like villanelle, I have never written one. I thought this one was pretty well written, overall, I could understand and relate to it more or less in spite of it being about something not from my culture.

I like the title
